I own the predecessor of this pant, the echo gtx. I also just purchased these pants from retailers peter glenn and moosejaw. So I will compare the two since I own both. The predecessor (echo gtx) was gortex, 80 grams of insulation and very warm, very slim fit, polyester, and two stretch. The current pants are not gortex, 80 grams of insulation and very warm, regular/relaxed it, nylon, and 4 way stretch. I like the current pant better. The reason I bought the predecessor was that it had 80 grams of insulation, and super warm, not that it was gortex. In fact these pants (both versions) are I think the warmest pants out there. With 80 grams of insulation, I am only wearing them when it is super cold, too cold for rain, and too cold for wet snow. So don't miss the goretex. The current pants are nylon, the previous polyester. I prefer nylon as they are smoother and silkier to the touch than polyester. The current pants are 4 way stretch and the previous only 2 way stretch. I don't like feeling confined while doing activities so for me these are stretchier and more comfy, a definite improvement. The fit of the two pants is entirely different. I wear a 6 in the predecessor echo gtx, and a size 2 in the current echo. So, you will need to downside one to two sizes, depending on how you like your pants to fit. I initially ordered the 6, returned them for a 4, and returned them for the 2. All in all, I like the current pant far better. If you get cold easily or ski in brutually…
